Year 6 Oak and Elm

Welcome to Year 6 Oak and Elm Classes!

The Class Teachers for Oak Class are Mrs Tracy Wicks (Monday to Wednesday) and Mrs Imogen Rands-Webb (Thursday and Friday).  They are supported by Teaching Assistants Mr Will Allen, Mrs Tilly Clapham and Mrs Sarah Walsh.  The Class Teachers for Elm Class are Mrs Rebecca Freeman with Mrs Amy Davis teaching on a Thursday.  They are supported by Teaching Assistants Mrs Sarah Hoffman, Mrs Sally Goodman and Mr Drew Forrester.

The Year 6 team welcomes you to possibly the most action-packed year in your Lady Boswell’s life!  The year kicks off with a real focus on challenge as we set ourselves targets and embrace the additional responsibilities that come with Year 6.

During the first two terms, we travel back in time to investigate what life was like in the Victorian era and enjoy a visit to Horton Kirby in role as Victorian children!  As Christmas approaches, we participate in a Victorian Christmas workshop to learn about how much of our modern yuletide celebrations stem from this era.

As we move into terms three and four, the topic is North America with a geographical focus, contrasting human and physical aspects of Britain and North America. We also develop our map reading skills.

Terms five and six are even busier; with the national SATs looming soon after we return to school after Easter, we start with a whirlwind revision of the amazing amount we have learned during our 7 years at Lady Boswell's. No sooner is this done than we prepare for our exciting summer-term residential at the Kingswood activity centre in Norfolk.  The fun doesn’t end there!  We are extremely busy in term 6 with rehearsals for our amazing Year 6 summer production.  It is the climax to our year.  Term 6 also sees us participate in local events such as the Rochester Cathedral Church Schools' Celebration and complete transition projects and visits to our chosen secondary schools.

You can see why there are always so many happy memories of Year 6 to share at our Leavers’ Service in July!
