As a church school, RE is considered a core subject, with allocated weekly time and regular liaison with the diocese to ensure that teaching and learning is of the highest standard. We teach the ‘Understanding Christianity’ syllabus, supplemented with World Faith units, following Diocese recommendations. This syllabus enables us to deliver high quality RE education that teaches the children to reflect deeply about faith and philosophical issues, and gives them the theological knowledge and religious vocabulary to be able to express their own considered and comparative viewpoints. R.E. prepares the children to be empathetic and reflective, well-informed citizens of the future, giving them the cultural capital necessary to become effective leaders in the multi-faith, global society of tomorrow.
