Knowledge Organisers
Our Knowledge Organisers are a go-to document for a half term unit of work. They identify the key information that children need to have learned by the end of the unit. They also act as a tool to support children in retaining and retrieving knowledge for life-long learning. Research around memory suggests that if knowledge is studied once and not revisited or revised, it is not stored in the long-term memory. This means that after one lesson, or revising for one test, the knowledge will not be retained unless it is studied again and again. It won’t be recalled unless it is revisited frequently, which will embed it in the long-term memory.
Knowledge organisers are vital documents within lessons and are referred to regularly by teaching staff and used actively by the children. Knowledge Organisers for each curriculum topic are available to parents via the School's Google Classroom pages.
