Year 3 Copper Beech and Silver Birch

Welcome to Year 3

The Class Teacher for Copper Beech is Miss Hannah Crawley with Teaching Assistants, Mrs Caroline Smith and Mrs Virginia Smith.  The Class Teacher for Silver Birch is Mrs Kerry Mather.  She is supported by Teaching Assistants, Miss Shannon Gibbons and Mrs Caroline Smith.

During the school year, the cross-curricular topics covered are the Stone, Bronze & Iron Age, Ancient Egyptians, Mountains and the United Kingdom. Throughout the year, the Science curriculum covers: Plants, Forces and Magnets, Rocks, Fossils and Soils, Light and Animals including Humans. All subjects are linked to our topic work where appropriate. The topics covered have a global dimension to develop children’s awareness of world issues and encourage learning for life.

Learning outside the classroom provides wonderful experiences and opportunities for the children to participate in their topic learning. Trips and activity days are organised to link with the topic being studied.

Year 3 Curriculum Maps

Knowledge Organisers and other curriculum support for parents are available via their Google Classroom account, where parents will find a wealth of resources that will support their children's learning at home.

Year 3 Targets

Below you will find links to our Writing, Reading and Maths targets for Year 3.  These are the objectives that our pupils work to achieve each year in these subject areas. These target objectives are used both at School, and at home, to ensure every pupil is continually challenged, and are often referred to at parent consultation meetings when discussing pupil's progress and attainment.
