BASKETBALL - 7 DECEMBER 2018
Last night Alex, Fin, George, Samuel, Harry, Neve T, Neve E, and Lexi G from Year 6, took part in a Basketball Tournament at Knole Academy.
Lady Boswell’s were in Group B, alongside St. Thomas’ School, 2 teams from Anthony Roper School, an ‘all star’s’ team and Seal St. Lawrence School.
The matches, often ending with very close scores, were exciting with some super skill and teamwork on display.
Lady Boswell’s won their Group contest and went forwad to a playoff against winners of Group A, Dunton Green School.
With an exciting game in which the score was extremely close, it ended with a 10-9 win for our team. The Lady Boswell’s Basketball Team now goes forward to the Kent Games which will take place in Aylesford.
Well done to all of the children and thanks to Mrs Johnson for managing the team on the day.

CROSS COUNTRY - 2 NOVEMBER 2018
With the sun shining and leaves fluttering to the ground, our KS1 children took part in the KS1 Interhouse Cross Country competition.
This popular and hard-fought race certainly brought out the best in the children. With every child taking part, they put in great effort and good sportsmanship was shown by all.
For the first time ever, McKinley were the winners of this event—well done the yellows!
CROSS COUNTRY - 19 OCTOBER 2018
On Friday, 12th October, a large group of children from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 took part in a cross country event at Somerhill School. The children ran in races in their year groups and competed against schools from all over Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells.
Years 3 and 4 ran 1,100m and Years 5 and 6 ran 1,500m with a horrendously long steep hill to finish each of the courses! The children all performed exceptionally well with Maisie H in Year 4 taking a Bronze Medal and Lucy C in Year 5 just missing out on a medal. Well done to them all, but particular congratulations to those children who were competing for the first time. Our thanks to Miss Chivers and Mrs Johnson for giving their time to lead this event.
FOOTBALL - 19 OCTOBER 2018
This week, our Football Team played 2 matches against Edenbridge and Antony Roper School. In the first match they had a tough start but the boys scored their first goal. This put them into a good rhythm and, after some good passing play, they scored a second goal. They finished well with a 3-0 victory. An outstanding performance by Chris from year 5. In their second match against Antony Roper, the team were buoyant. With an outstanding performance from JJ, this meant that Antony Roper struggled to get any shooting opportunities. The first half ended 3-0 to LB. After a mix up of communication, Antony Roper got a goal back, however, the team stayed strong, not allowing them back into the game. The final tally was 5-1 to Lady Boswell’s. Well done to all, and our thanks to Mr Saunders for coaching the team.
NETBALL AND FOOTBALL - 12 OCTOBER 2018
Always a rousing event, the Interhouse Netball and Football tournaments took place last week. All competitors took part with determination and good sportsmanship, and all house supporters cheered with enthusiasm. Congratulations to K2 for taking the netball prize and to Mont Blanc for taking the football prize.
FOOTBALL - 12 OCTOBER 2018
On Monday, JJ, George, Fin, Callum, Will, Alex and Christopher from Year 6 and Georgia and Charlotte from Year 5 competed in a football tournament at St Michael’s School. The team played exceptionally well, working hard in the group stage to secure a couple of wins, coming third overall in their group. They then secured a place in the Plate final match against St. John’s School; the Lady Boswell’s players kept focused and pressed for an early goal. They communicated well with each other and demonstrated superb teamwork, staying strong in defence and passing the ball quickly up the field to secure another three goals. With a final score of 4-0, Lady Boswell’s won the Plate. Well done to the football team and thank you to Mrs Barrett for coaching and supporting the team throughout the tournament.
FOOTBALL - 28 SEPTEMBER 2018
On Monday, Christopher, George, Fin, Alex and Callum from Year 6, and Georgia and Charlotte from Year 5 competed in the Somerhill U11 football tournament. 12 teams played 4 matches each, with the winners from each group going through to the Cup Final. Lady Boswell’s stormed through their group winning every match and not conceding a single goal. In a hard fought final that ended 0-0, the game went to penalties; our team kept calm, and with a combination of accurate shots on goal and highly skilled goalkeeping, our team were victorious. Excellent teamwork and some really impressive football. Well done!
Our Year 3 and 4 team made up of Paul, Curtis, Harry, Thomas, Alex and Pedri played in the U9s tournament, playing 6 matches in total. The main aim for this age group was for them to focus on their passing, team work and development of their understanding of the rules. Despite not having taken part in a tournament before, the boys played incredibly well with some outstanding goalkeeping and passing.
Both the U9s and U11s teams were exceptionally well behaved and a real credit to the School. A huge thank you to Mrs Oldfield and Mr Robinson for supervising the older team, and to Mrs Johnson and Mr Black for supervising the younger team.
